Delta Force- The Beckwithian Scholars

Delta Force Founder- Col. Charles Alvin Beckwith (U.S. Army)

Col. Beckwith served three tours in Vietnam, rescuing captured Green Berets while implementing "decisive deterrence" initiatives against the enemy. Col. Beckwith survived a 50 caliber gunshot wound amongst other combat exertions in Vietnam. Additionally, Col. Beckwith served with the elite SAS contingent overseas. Col. Beckwith almost died of malaria on this deployment. Col. Beckwith learned from his experiences and formed the configurative and tactical model that exists to this day concerning Delta Force.

Perception-Col. Beckwith can be defined as someone who led a "failed" mission to rescue American hostages from Iran.

  

Reality- Col. Beckwith lost a significant means of deployment, convergence and force projection concerning his means of transport in and out of the Iranian theatre. This occurrence could have led to the massacre of the American hostages and the soldiers who would lead Delta Force into the future as America's "vanguard" Counter Terrorism and Special Forces contingent.

Detractors- There are some who have chosen to benefit from negative perceptions about Col. Beckwith as a leader and a man. Col. Beckwith was a man of action who risked his life on countless occasions against enemies who outnumbered his forces in numerical troop strength(A daily reality in Vietnam).

 Conquest:  this is vanity when conquest is the premise.  Jomini understands the nature of man when he is not balanced in his social decorum and his natural inclinations.  When there is no balance, he longs for conquest.  He’s inclined towards conquest whether it is fair or unfair, just or unjust.  So you must be able to address those situations.

How do we expand on this topic?  Well, there is always a center of gravity concerning the moral premise, the moral prerogative, and the moral authority that must be protected in order to secure theater, regional and global interests.  But there are also formless centers of gravity that must be addressed in real time to prevent societal deterioration points, and regional instability, and global instability as well because of projected equivalence that will aid the enemy because there will be no sustainable deterrence and no balance in single theaters, regionally, and ultimately globally.  So this is very important to understand.

  Jomini understands, based on Article 1, that rights, the moral prerogative, the moral premise, the moral authority should be the premise of war fighting, but that there are wars based on differences of opinion, and even when there’s moral deviation, it is because of a difference opinion. This is what defines diametrical opposition, moral versus immoral, clarity versus perception.  And the fog of war creates diametrical opposition or opponents between nation-states.  So we must understand that wars of opinion is not just vanity; it is a constant for those inclined towards the moral prerogative and clarity and those who are inclined towards immoral provocations based on perceptions or misunderstandings of reality.
