Term association:  Sun Tzu accomplishes this by attacking his enemies philosophically, diplomatically and in a strategic sense. Ultimately, when you do this, there will be no physical massing of forces.  Therefore, enemy contingents, their provocative nature, and inclinations towards violence, terrorism, or rogue actions, these will be quelled for the most part, or subdued. When this occurs, for the most part you won’t have to attack cities, and in situations where the enemy is still obstinate and provocative in their physical acts or implied threats of the same, when you attack their cities, the city will attack them as well because the civilian population will side with the invading force, maybe not the majority, but a sustainable contingent and constituency that will give the invading nation the projected equivalence of majority support in what would otherwise be a stalemate scenario at the least.This will determine the distinction of the combat, and ultimately turn the tide in favor of the invading nation. When leaders implement strategic and tactical operations that are both military and diplomatic, this is indicative of the skillful warrior that can win a war psychologically while minimizing physical exertion.  This occurs through precision use of force and economy of force.  When these variables are used in tandem -- precision use of force and economy of force -- then casualty aversion will be optimized, threat reduction will be optimized, fatalities will be dramatically reduced, force deterioration will be reduced and combat stress will be reduced. Therefore, morale will be at an all-time high, and victory will be eminent.We will continue tomorrow.
